If you are a solicitor from an overseas jurisdiction wishing to practice in New Zealand, you may need to have your qualifications assessed by the New Zealand Council of Legal Education (http://www.nzcle.org.nz/). The NZCLE will assess your qualifications against the requirements for admission in New Zealand and may recommend that you complete a number of papers and pass some exams to familiarise yourself with the New Zealand legal system, gain admission to the New Zealand Bar and obtain a New Zealand Law Society Practicing Certificate.

Note though that as an overseas-qualified lawyer, it is possible to work in a legal capacity without a Practising Certificate, depending on the nature of the role and the organisation you are working for.
