Planning to hire a new migrant?

Here’s your chance to learn about the challenges and benefits of employing new migrants from employers with first-hand knowledge.

The “Employment Network Evening: Celebrating Diversity in Wellington Workforce” will highlight employers who support diverse workforces within Wellington, and to let others know about the benefits and opportunities that come with employing people from different cultural and linguistic backgrounds.

The Johnson Group’s Leigh Johnson will be the key note speaker at this event. She’ll be talking about her experiences of working with and hiring employees from migrant and refugee backgrounds, and discuss the key issues, benefits and opportunities involves.

The Johnson Group has a wealth of experience working with migrants, not only due to our internal hires, but also our work on the Skilled Migrant Programme.

Aimed at talented migrants who have relevant experience but are currently unemployed or underemployed, the Skilled Migrant Programme involves a study course and an internship at a local Wellington business.

The programme’s successes have been recognised with awards from both the RCSA and EEO Trust, and have gained widespread coverage in New Zealand media.

The Employment Network Evening will be held on:

5-7 pm on Thursday 13 May
The Senior Centre, Wellington Central Library
65 Victoria Street, Wellington

Admission is free. For more information (and to register before Friday 7 May) please call Jirayu on 803 8706 or email settlementsupport@wcc.govt.nz.
