If you’re involved in large government projects now, or plan to be in the future, you’ll probably have been following the reports on Gateway. The Gateway tool—a sophisticated new management tool designed “to improve efficiency of delivery on projects and programmes”—has been piloted by five New Zealand organisations with promising results.

The Gateway tool has particular relevance to large-scale projects. PRINCE2 professionals, government project and programme managers, should sit up and take notice—particularly when you consider the range of complex programs in the pipeline, as well as the emerging PPP initiatives.
