Heather's update for Government Contractors

The last few weeks has seen a gentle increase in the number of contract opportunities with some new contracts being signed – very pleasing indeed.

With quarterly reporting submitted it appears pressure is mounting to clear some work programmes. Many of our clients are now working on special projects; we are seeing managers who have been unable to replace staff due to budget constraints now recruiting contactors. There is definitely an increased amount of good opportunities for contractors to pick up some work.

Now that we are in the final quarter of 2009 it’s also interesting to note that the contractor talent pool in the Wellington market has shrunk a little – a result of contractors picking up permanent and fixed term roles. So for those who have weathered the storm we anticipate some good opportunities as contracting continues to pick-up.

If you have experience in Management, Project Management, Senior Policy Analysis, Planning and Reporting, or Technical Writing we'd be keen to have you join our team of Contractors. You will need to possess superior analytical skills; a high degree of literacy, organisational skills and your relationship management skills will be a strength. Experience in economics is also highly desirable in the current market.

We’re always interested to hear what you’re seeing out there and happy to catch up with you for an update on the market from our perspective. If you haven’t been in touch with us for a while, or you’d like to register with us please send your updated CV to us and we can arrange a catch-up.

All the best!
Heather
