The IPANZ New Professionals Leadership Team are excited to launch the first “Meet the Chiefs” Breakfast Series. Public sector jobs - changes and challenges.

What's happening in the public sector? Our Senior Recruitment Consultant, Dave Wish, was kind enough to answer a few questions about what he's been seeing in the public sector recently. You can contact Dave for a chat on 04 915 1476 or email him at dave@thejohnsongroup.co.nz.

Government jobs and restructuring

There's a lot of news about public sector restructuring in the media at the moment. I thought I'd quickly flag a couple of articles from the Dom Post. Currently I'm reading today's front page article: Tax jobs next to face axe:

Not in policy?

We regularly get emails from people looking to work in different areas, and we try to refer them on to agencies who handle the sort of work they do.

What's your career plan? Strategic career management.

One of the most important exercises you can work on while searching for – and during – a job is figuring out what your short and long term career goals are. The Quint Careers website has a great article on Developing a Strategic Vision for Your Career Plan.

From the article:

Managing workplace stress

There are always days when we feel stressed at work. It can be caused by any number of factors – perhaps a big project deadline is looming, things aren’t going smoothly for you at work or home, or maybe you’re just not feeling well that day. Whatever the reason, stress in the workplace is no fun and generally makes things feel much worse. Here are a few tips on lessening the mental load on tough days:
